What is Project 8T4?
You may have heard me referring to Project 8T4 over the past few weeks and might be asking yourself but what is it? Project 8T4 is a hands on journey of productive artistic development with the aim to my push personal boundaries, develop skills and refine creative techniques.
I have set myself the goal of 84 artworks to be created in total, most of which will be made available for purchase. Each piece will be uploaded into the Project 8T4 Gallery with insight into it’s creation and inspiration.
The Motivation Behind Project 8T4
Don’t Get Precious
If you allow yourself to become overly precious with your work, it will prevent you from pushing your boundaries. Let go, try new things. You might hate the finished piece or love it – but share it with the world regardless, don’t hoard work in your studio for no-one to see.
Don’t Hold Back
If you feel inspired, just go for it. Don’t worry about failure, political correctness or public reaction. Go with what drives you and excites you – whatever it is (unless it comes with the risk serving jail time, but that’s your call).
Have No Fear
Fear is the biggest killer of creativity. Don’t let it control what you want to do. Sometimes it feels easy to throw away an idea if your’e not sure it will work. If you never try, you will never know! Have no fear, you will always pass failure on your way to success.
Aim high – you might not reach the stars, but the higher you aim to further you’ll reach. You won’t get anywhere unless you try! Amazing opportunities await.
It can be easy to lack inspiration when you have no goal to work towards. Perhaps there’s no upcoming exhibitions, or you’re feeling a bit lost artistically. The best thing to do, is simply create. Whether you feel inspired or not, keep on creating – who knows what you may discover.
Project 8T4 has officially begun! By the time I have completed my eighty-fourth artwork (yikes), I will be able to look back at my progress and have a little party. To see where I started, how I evolved along the way and wherever things might end up – there’s sure to be a lot of valuable lessons to be learnt.
Umm what the hell is ectoplasm exactly? I just love the vintage photographs of ectoplasm escaping the body of a medium – the idea that something dwells within all of us, just waiting to get out, to be expressed, to be heard.
a supernatural viscous substance that supposedly exudes from the body of a medium during a spiritualistic trance and forms the material for the manifestation of spirits.
I truly admire artist’s who are able to fully let go creatively. You can see energy and emotion transferred into their artwork, taking on physical form in their selected media. I’ve been experimenting with action painting and loving every second of it. I can’t remember that last time I had so much fun simply creating.
Please join me on this exciting adventure. If you haven’t already, subscribe to my newsletter to easily stay updated. Follow my progress socially on Facebook and Instagram using #project8T4.
